Production Manager

The title of Production Manager is often misunderstood. Many people wonder what exactly someone with this title actually does. The best way to describe this role is as a ringmaster in a circus. From defining technical specifications for station productions to coordinating teams of videographers, editors, and resources, I am directly involved in many of the productions that originate from our station and indirectly involved with many of the others. I generally take the vision and instructions from leadership and figure out how to make them into reality.

Your Vote 2022

This special series of shows highlighted the sunup to the 2022 election season. Every episode was shot on a new virtual set, in an environment which I designed. This show broke new ground for the station as it represented the first time we had gone live from a virtual set, first time we had live reporters in the field for a broadcast, and was partially simulcast on radio with a combination of shared segments and unique segments for both television and radio. As the Production Manager, I coordinated all personnel and technical needs, oversaw rehearsals and equipment changes, and co-produced and directed the show.

The Press Room

This is a weekly public affairs show that is distributed to both television and radio as well as online via YouTube, the PBS app, and subscriptions via podcast feeds. I serve as the Production Manager for this show, overseeing the taping as well as the post-production processes and workflows.

Hollywood at Home

This weekly show highlights some of the best films from Hollywood's past. It is shot entirely on a virtual set which I designed in 3D. As the Production Manager for this show, I oversee the general look and feel while much of this show is staffed by students employees.

Arizona Illustrated

Arizona Illustrated is a powerhouse of a show that has won many, many Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards. As the Production Manager, I oversee the team of videographers and editors that create this show and guide the production process from scheduling the video shoots to editing, color grading, post-production sound, and final deliveries.

CD7 Special Election Debates

This series of debates for the CD7 Special Election was produced for Arizona Media Association and the Clean Elections Commission. This was a relatively short production schedule and had many moving parts. I coordinated all involved parties, set design, technical needs and run-throughs, and helped produce the live shows. Each debate was televised, simulcast on radio, and made available to all television stations in the state for live simulcast.
